Thoughts on Coloring by YamPuff Thoughts on Coloring by YamPuff
As promised, here is a look into how I color! I don't really want to label it as a tutorial as I'm sure there is plenty of room for improvement in my coloring. It is a very simple and easy way to color and give crisp, shiny results.

My tutorial on Lineart:

Feel free to download the tutorial for future reference or to add it to any tutorial clubs or groups, I'll accept straight away!

Thank you!

Love the tutorial. It was simple and easy. My only question is, how did you blend the color together? I use Gaussian blur. It is the only thing that seen to work for me. I use more than layer oh course. I was just wondering is there another method you use. Your is work is always amazing.

Well you can achieve great results with a curve tool and a mouse.
Or try ebay for a cheap used tablet!

How do you adjust the color of the lineart after the fact? I can't figure out how to make my lineart a different color unless I use that color to begin with =/

The software I use, MangaStudio gives you the option to change layers originally made in B&W; at any time you can adjust the black to be whatever color.

Hmm... any idea if there is a way to do that in Sai?

I'm not familiar with Sai but from what I know of your average image software, perhaps if you make your lineart on it's own layer and then adjust the hue/saturation to change the color? Or select and fill?

Sai must be strange because if you adjust the hue or saturation on black, it does nothing. Very odd. And the fill tool only catches a few pixels.

Hmm, what if you make the lineart originally in a color like blue and then adjust afterwards?

omg. i dont know if you realize it, but your mix of "simple shading" and "gradient shading" is actually and advance combination of cast shadows and ambient shadows. :O i have a very tough time with shading. this majorly simplifies it, while still being the same thing. @.@

btw, your coloring is my favourite part of your work. :)

I always felt like my coloring is just a bunch of shortcuts. XD
I don't know why, I'm quite confident about my lineart but when it comes to coloring..
