I would like to address some frequently asked questions regarding my linearts in this Journal. I would like to eventually add this info to the descriptions of my linearts alongside the rules but I do not have time for this at the moment. So here we go: Can I make adoptables from your linearts?
I get asked this one a lot and the answer is no
. Although the rules do not explicitly state 'no adoptables', they do say 'my linearts are for personal, non-commercial use only'.
If you are making my linearts into adoptables and selling them, even for points, that is making a profit off of them thus violating the rules.
My linearts are shared for one reason: coloring. Many of the linearts in my gallery are commissions that my commissioners have generously given permission for others to use and color. It is impossible for me to give permission for others to use them as adoptables as I do not own the rights to those characters in the first place! Can I color this?
The answer is simple: please read the description. I get asked this a lot and generally the people asking are being polite, so please don't misunderstand, I am not trying to be rude! However, I have 100s of messages to go through each week and it is both time consuming and a bit frustrating to have to answer a question which is clearly stated in the description of my linearts. I am not saying don't ever ask me again, of course if you want to clarify or if you're not sure of something please do contact me and I will be sure to answer. But if the description says 'this lineart is for coloring!' by sending me a Note asking 'can I color" you're simply asking to wait a week or two to get my answer, which will be 'yes, you can, it's in the description.'
On the opposite end of the spectrum, my sketches and watermarked linearts are NOT for coloring and again, it clearly says so in the description! I am not even referring to art thieves, I have encountered very nice people who colored in art of mine which was not up for coloring & happily removed it when I asked them to. And I'm very happy they did but then it makes me nervous about uploading my sketches & WIPs. Lineart. Where is it.
I'm going to be honest here, linearts are a privilege, not a right. I do not have to upload any linearts at all and when someone rudely demands I upload a lineart or complains about how long it's taking, it just makes me want to not upload anything at all. Feel free to make requests and ask for linearts, but at least be polite and say please! Can you draw this/that?
I don't really do requests. What with personal work and commissions I simply don't have time. I do run contests with commission prizes as well as kiribans every 10,000 pageviews or so, so if you want something in my style free, you'll have to try your luck that way.
That being said, I do like getting suggestions. For example, if you have an idea for a new sweet chibi or cupcake pony, feel free to share and if it's a good idea I might end up drawing it one day. Can I color the eyes of your chibis in a different way?
Whenever I get asked this question I feel like such an idiot trying to explain to answer that I have decided to illustrate with a simple example:
It is ok to color in the eyes differently than me: consider it like my Rapunzel chibi lineart, that the eyes are a blank.
What is NOT ok to do is to erase the eyes and redraw them entirely thus changing the actual artwork. Finally, please do not submit my linearts as prints!I think that's about it for now!
Thank you all so much for your support, comments and faves!
I do appreciate them all! I share these linearts because I love you guys and I love the community and overall out of the hundreds of linearts colored, so few have ever actually violated the rules or stolen my work. I really appreciate that and it makes me happy and excited to share my work with you all!
